Why You're Great With Money (Even If It Doesn't Feel That Way Yet)
If you've ever told yourself "I'm just bad with money," you're not alone. It's one of the most common things I hear as a financial coach. But here's the truth: you're probably doing a lot better than you give yourself credit for.
Most people who come to me are:
Earning a decent income
Trying to stay on top of their bills
Aware something needs to change
Already trying to use a tool like YNAB
None of that screams "bad with money" to me. It sounds like someone who's doing their best without much support. And that matters.
Why It Feels So Hard
The problem isn’t usually a lack of intelligence or willpower. It’s that no one ever taught us how to manage money in a way that works for real life.
Maybe you’ve got irregular income. Or a spending habit that feels hard to break. Or you grew up in a household where money was a source of stress or silence.
None of that is your fault — and none of it means you can't change your relationship with money starting now.
What You Can Control
You might not control your past, your partner's spending habits, or how much eggs cost this week. But you can:
Get clear on what your money needs to do
Learn to use a tool like YNAB in a way that makes sense to your brain
Build new habits that support your goals
All of that is learnable. You don't need a finance degree, a perfect track record, or a color-coded spreadsheet to get started.
How Coaching Helps
Working with a coach isn’t about being scolded or told to stop buying lattes. It’s about having a supportive guide who can help you:
Set up (or clean up) your YNAB budget
Understand where your money is actually going
Make decisions that feel aligned, not restrictive
Stay consistent, even when life gets messy
You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Your Financial Confidence Is Closer Than You Think
Feeling confident with your money doesn’t happen overnight. But it does happen faster when you have tools that work and someone in your corner.
You're not bad with money. You're just early in the process.
And you're already doing better than you think.
